2016 Honda Accord Facelift Revealed With Updated Styling, New Technologies

The refreshed 2016 Honda Accord has been revealed today which introduces new styling and technologies for the Japanese car maker’s D-segment model.

First up, the new Accord receives a major update to its exterior styling with the front receiving a restyled bumper that hosts new LED fog lamps placed within intake-like meshed areas. The new aluminium hood features sharper character lines, meeting the bolder front grille. There also LED headlamps and daytime lights which are available only on certain US market variants. For the rear, the Honda Accord gets restyled LED taillights and an aggressive rear bumper design as well.

Honda Sensing, the car maker’s safety and driver-assisatance package suite is now available for the new Accord as well and includes systems such as Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS) with Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Lane Keeping Assist (LKAS), Road Departure Mitigation (RDM) with Lane Departure Warning (LDW) and Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC).

Visibility also gets a boost as all 2016 Accords receive as standard Multi-Angle Rearview Camera and Expanded View Driver's Mirror. New auto high-beam headlamps are also available on selected trim levels.

Inside, the infotainment gets a major bump with a new 7-inch touchscreen interface that features both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, HondaLink Assist, and HD Radio. On top of that, a 7.7-inch display screen is linked to the infotainment system to display audio settings, navigation directions, time and trip information, LaneWatch and Rearview Camera displays, incoming calls, SMS text messages when stopped, and parking sensor alerts.

As for engine options, the US market Accord continues with the familiar 2.4-litre direct-injection four-cylinder and a 3.5-litre V6, paired to three available transmissions – a CVT, six-speed manual, and six-speed automatic.
