2015 Volkswagen Polo Trophy Launched In Malaysia From RM90k, Limited To 100 Units

In conjunction with Volkswagen’s hugely successful outing in the World Rally Championship (WRC) arena, Volkswagen Malaysia, graced by the presence of the Volkswagen WRC driver, Jari-Matti Latvala along with his co-driver Miikka Anttila have launched the new Polo Trophy in Malaysia, priced at RM89,888, and limited to just 100 units.

The Trophy is based on the locally assembled Volkswagen Polo with the familiar 1.6-litre MPI four-cylinder petrol engine developing 105PS and 153Nm of torque, sent through a six-speed Tiptronic automatic transmission.

What distinguishes the Polo Trophy from a standard one are a series of visual enhancements, most noticeably the stickers located on the hood and sides of the car. Adding to that are wing mirrors finished in black and the Trophy gains a black spoiler as well.

The cabin remains largely unchanged save for the upgraded multimedia unit which now comes equipped with satellite navigation. Tinted windows comes as standard as well.

Present at the launch was Volkswagen Group Malaysia Managing Director Mr Armin Keller who said, “We are proud to have with us today Jari-Matti Latvala and Miikka Anttila at the launch of this limited edition Polo Trophy designed especially for Malaysian and WRC fans.”

During the launch, Latvala swapped out his usual Polo R WRC race car for a more conventional daily drive Polo, where they experienced the precise driving skills of the 30 year-old. Additionally, he responded to a challenge by viral drift princess Leona Chin on her Facebook page in a head-to-head in a gymkhana course where both demonstrated who can outrun the other better and faster in the Polo.

The launch of the limited edition model coincides with the Volkswagen Polo Rally Weekend at the Setia City Convention Centre car park, where visitors could go for a ride with two of Malaysia’s top female drifters – Chin and Azrina Jane Abdullah. They can also get up close with the Polo Trophy and enjoy up to RM30,000 in savings for the Golf GTI, Golf R and Scirocco R till 30 September 2015.
