2015 Renault Megane RS 265 Cup Facelift Launched In Malaysia – Yours For RM242k

TC Euro Cars, the official distributor of Renault cars in Malaysia, have decided to bring their facelifted Renault Megane RS 265 Cup to Malaysia and have officially launched it to once again sit a notch higher than the currently-available RS 265 Sport, much to the applause of hot hatch enthusiasts all over the country. So, what do we have here?

The new 265 Cup comes to a showroom near you for RM241,651.37 on-the-road inclusive of GST and insurance - a premium of RM38k over the Sport. Additionally, if you wanted the Sirius Yellow body paint colour, you'd have to drop a further RM7,000 for it.

What’s New?

SUSPENSION: This is where the Cup really comes into its own over the Sport and justifies its higher rank and price premium. To make it more of a stormer around corners, it has gained uprated springs, dampers, an anti-roll bar, and crucially a mechanical limited-slip differential. Also the Cup sits 10mm lower than the Sport.

ENGINE: Solving the speed equation through sheer power wasn’t what the RS 265 Cup needed, and Renault went in favour of keeping the same tried-and-true 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder in the same tune as the Sport, so it chucks out 265hp and 360Nm of torque and mated to a six-speed manual transmission.

EXTERIOR: The new Megane RS 265 Cup doesn’t really offer much change by way of exterior visuals. To our eyes, its front-end is nearly identical to the facelifted 265 Sport. We’ve got no argument with that, and clearly Renault has other, more driver-facing priorities.

Compared to the older 265 Cup, this facelifted version gains Renault’s new corporate face to better match the Clio RS 200 hatch and Koleos compact SUV, with slimmer enclosures for the projector halogen headlamps and an F1-style blade incorporated below the front bumper.

The 18-inch wheels are of the same design as on the Sport, but painted matte black in the Cup’s case. However, it ditches the red accents of the Sport, leaving the spoiler, side panels, and front blade to be body coloured. Interestingly, the Cup does gain red-painted callipers for its Brembo brakes – a subtle differentiator for the eagle-eyed and informed observer.

EQUIPMENT & FEATURES: The facelifted 265 Cup comes with all the toys that previous model did. However, the most noticable change over the Sport would be the semi-leather Recaro bucket seats over the Renault sport fabric ones.

Second would be the 7-inch central touchscreen LCD display that replaces the previous 265 Cup’s much smaller monochrome screen and comes with the RS Monitor 2.0 software as well – the same setup as the Clio RS 200.

The new Megane RS 265 Cup also gains keyless start in addition to the Sport’s keyless entry system which required the driver to insert a key card into a slot in the dashboard. Of minor note, the Cup gains an 8-speaker sound system over the Sport’s 6-speaker offering.
