2015 Peugeot 508 GT Previewed At Mid Valley Megamall, RM205k Tentative Price

Not too long ago, Peugeot Malaysia teased the arrival of the new 2015 Peugoet 508 but now, they’ve placed said vehicle on display for the public to get up close with at Mid Valley Megamall. Just head towards the East Atrium, you can’t miss it.

As far as prices go, they are tentative at the moment – RM205,000 for the Peugeot 508 GT you see before you here. When re-introduced in 2012, the 508 was offered in both the sedan and station wagon (SW) body styles. Whether it will be the same for the new model, we’ll have to wait till launch day. However, members of the public will also be able to view the car in showrooms come Friday.  

The new 508 GT retains its predecessor’s 2.2-litre four-cylinder turbodiesel engine which is paired to a six-speed Tiptronic automatic transmission featuring paddle shifters and a Sport mode. Power output stands is listed as 204hp at 3,500 rpm and 450Nm of torque at 2,000 rpm, exactly as before.

More significant changes are seen on the outside. Firstly, full LED headlamps are fitted, joining the ranks of Peugeot’s C-segment hatchback, the 308 THP which have them as well. This displaces the LED daytime-running lights to the bottom edges of the front bumper, surrounding the fog lamps. The front grille has also received a redesign, now more upright than before with the lion badge now nestling in the centre as opposed to being on the hood.

Along the side, it is all familiar including the 19-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels wrapped in 235/40 series tyres. The changes at the rear are minor as well. Beyond a small boot lid spoiler and reshuffling of the rear reflectors, it is hard to spot any highly noticeable differences.

Inside, the control unit which was previously housed on the centre console has been removed, replaced with a small storage compartment with a sliding lid. Interfacing with the multimedia unit is now done via the seven-inch touchscreen display unit with quick access buttons still in place just above the climate control panel. Elsewhere, it is pretty much familiar territory.

Safety features include six airbags, ABS, EBD & EBA, anti-skid regulation (ASR), dynamic stability control (DSC), plus blind spot prevention system.
